Jesus at The Hanukkah (edited)

The light keeps shining in the dark, and darkness has never put it out (John 1:5 CEV).

In a long ago winter, during one Hanukkah*, Jesus was again recorded in the Temple. (He may well have been to many Jerusalem Hanukkah celebrations, as to the other recurring events in his culture.) John here gives us a note of the chronology of Jesus' life.

To J u d g e NOT (!), to S E E, and to A C T (Edn2)

This post is untypical of me. I do not discuss here a topic or a passage. It consists essentially of the New Testament (NT) references which are relevant and instructive for the post title. They remain in their original text order, not in systematic arrangement. Careful reading may avoid confusion.

Jesus - The Christ Recognised! Who? How? When? What? (3Ed)

Jesus recognised as The Christ? Who? How? When? Where? They met him!

How do you learn new stuff? Various senses may be involved, for example, touch ("Ow, that is really hot!").

I have posted previously on Jesus being The Christ (ie, The Messiah). I have included information from disciples who show differing levels of understanding and conviction. But, how did it come about in the first place that they had become disciples of Jesus as being The Christ?

Jesus: Himself

Am    are    is    will    my    has   - significant words in the account of Jesus. What did Jesus disclose about himself? How much does it matter?
How are you building? Crash, or continue? See below.
On an August Saturday at the Coburg Mall a team of men were handing out copies of the Koran and promoting Islam. I had a conversation with Yusuf, who quoted a lot of the Gospels - especially the words of Jesus from the “Red Letter Bible” - it surprised me. He had so much. It matters a great deal indeed..
So I reflected: How really remarkable and telling were the things Jesus said of himself? What did he say and what weight did he put on what he said? Is it clear? Does it affect me and you?

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things I say? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The river crashed against it, and immediately it collapsed. And the destruction of that house was great.” (Luke 6:46-49, CSB).

Worship (edn 2)

Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! for it is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.’” (Matthew 4:10, NRSV)
