Angry, incoherent crowds seem to be sadly common in our times. In New Testament days Paul often faced such. He was a, or the, most prominent known Jewish follower of Jesus in the period before 70 AD (CE). Paul was the author of a body of letters and was very influential throughout the area from Jerusalem to Athens, and possibly beyond. Paul was tried several times and had to account for himself, as he did to this riot.
